It’s natural and normal for you to be anxious, but you don’t have to stay that way! Your anxiety can stem from your inability to solve problems on your own power, and the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6 and Romans 8:28a encourages you with a way to relieve your bad feelings and replace them with hopeful, faith-filled ones.
Prayer is us talking to God, and faith is believing that He not only hears us but will answer our prayers in His perfect will, time and plan for our lives. Giving thanks helps you emotionally focus on the One who has the power to change things, and, again, your faith, which is a gift from God, can free you to move on, to break free from that overwhelmed, anxious feeling even if there’s no evidence that you can see or feel that things have changed.
Us believing that God has a plan and purpose for our lives leads to embracing that, no matter what the circumstance, things will work out for the good. Look at Joseph’s story or Hanna’s. Or David’s or Abraham’s. God’s will, plan and purpose came to pass in His time for each seemingly impossible situation.
Things to Pray, Think and Journal About
1. Can you ask God to help you focus on things you can handle while you choose to leave the things you can’t do with Him?
2. Can you ask God to help you endure the waiting and grant you what He granted David, Joseph, Hannah and so many others in His hall of faith?
3. Have you been overwhelmed in the past and asked God for help? What happened?
Father God, please help me to live Your word, where I am told not to be anxious about anything and to focus on the positive and off the negative. Grant me all that I need including the faith that knows You make all things right even if I can’t. Please grant me the patience and forbearance to wait for Your perfect timing regarding the things that overwhelm and make me anxious right now. Let me feel Your loving, supportive, encouraging presence as I embrace Your word in scripture and in the inspired teaching above. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Pastor G and I pray this teaching gives you spiritual tools that you can use to relieve your anxious and overwhelmed feelings today and every day. That’s today’s encouraging word.
